MBA Ranking: Chile's business schools excel in Latin AmericaPublished: June 24, 2009
In its annual ranking of "The Best Business Schools in Latin America", AméricaEconomía Intelligence placed six Chilean universities among the top twenty institutions, confirming the high academic level of their MBA programs.
The MBA ranking carried out by AméricaEconomía Intelligence highlighted great improvements over scores from previous years. Chilean business schools displayed an important presence at the top of the rankings, partly thanks to the rise of La Pontificia Universidad Católica from fourth to second since last year.
The factors which have given rise to this auspicious result include, "sustained progress in academic strength, with excellent academic and teaching staff, as well as opportunities for exchanges and dual degrees abroad in the world's leading business schools," explained Jorge Herrera Ronco, Director of MBA-UC Chile.
The Universidad de Chile stood out in the ranking thanks to its improved score in research and publication, with a total of 202 papers published in the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) over the last five years.
The Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez de Santiago has always stood out as having one of the most outstanding in Latin America and a first class investigation team. This year it slowed down its rate of publication, which affected its result by a couple of places.
AméricaEconomía has produced its ranking for more than ten years. It aims to contribute to the continuous improvement of executive training in the region and strengthen business management.
The ranking considers aspects such as preparation, program design, teaching methods and materials, and the international range of clients, students and teachers. The study is regarded as a very important piece of analysis in terms of deciding on an MBA program.
The main conclusion to be drawn from this ranking is that competition between schools is on the increase and the teaching going on in their classrooms is constantly improving. The new edition of this study demonstrates not only the positions of the different schools but also how the industry has been progressing year after year.
