Fundación Imagen de Chile launches campaign to express thanks for international earthquake reliefPublished: March 26, 2010
The organization also launched a spot on CNN en Español and will create a website dedicated exclusively to the earthquake.
President Sebastián Piñera's government-through Fundación Imagen de Chile, directed by Juan Gabriel Valdés- launched a mega-campaign to thank those countries that have offered aid and shown their solidarity with Chile after the February 27th earthquake. The campaign includes full-page ads in the most important newspapers in Latin America and the United States, which read "Thank you" in large letters followed by the name of the respective country. The ads are signed "Chile" in red.
The message appeared in newspapers such as el Folha de Sao Paulo and O'Globo in Brazil; La Razón and El Deber in Bolivia; and La Nación and The Miami Herald in the United States. The campaign includes a spot on the news network CNN en Español, and ads may also be placed in other international media.
The countries that have offered aid include Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Germany, Korea, France, Finland, India, Mexico, New Zealand, Pakistan, Paraguay, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Meanwhile, Fundación Imagen de Chile and Chilean opinion leaders have worked hard to establish networks with Chile's friends abroad in order to inform them of the situation and ensure that international aid is maintained. Contact is also being kept up with foreign correspondents to detect the country's media-related needs. In addition, Fundación Imagen de Chile is putting together a newsletter with updates on the situation in Chile and its productive sectors, as well as human interest stories. The newsletter will be distributed to all of the organization's international contacts, including hundreds of journalists and foreign opinion leaders.
On top of all of this, the organization's interactive website (
www.hablamedechile.cl) is compiling stories of heroism and solidarity and a mini-site dedicated exclusively to the earthquake, is being created with the aim of reporting the milestones in Chile's reconstruction as the work proceeds.
Fundación Imagen de Chile works in coordination with Prochile; Corfo, Sernatur, Turismo Chile and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
