Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Chile reached US$14.5 billion in 2007 according to the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), rising 96% with respect to the previous fiscal year.

Chile has the highest per capita purchasing power parity (PPP)-adjusted GDP in Latin America, according to an IMF report. The country maintains its position in this year's figures at US$14,673. The per capita GDP at going prices is US$10,125.
