Everis Consulting: Mobile telephony positions Chile as the most technology-driven country in the region

Chile is becoming the regional leader in technology use due to the high penetration of mobile telephony and a growing number of people with Internet, as revealed by the ISI index which measures IT penetration. This figure is significantly higher than the comparable figures for Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia.

Santiago, the capital of Chile, was ranked 19th overall and as one of the top 5 for contact center sourcing, among 50 emerging cities for outsourcing according to the publication made by Global Services.


UNCTAD: Foreign investment in Chile increased 14% in 2006

The country increased its DFI by 14% in 2006 --totaling about US$8 billion-- which accounted for 28% of the economy's total gross capital mix. This figure is above the average for developing countries (14%), as shown by the World Investment Report 2007 of the United Nation's Conference on Trade and Development.


CATO Institute: Chile rises eleven positions in the economic freedom index

In the CATO Institute World Economic Freedom 2007 report, which assesses 141 countries regarding favorable investment conditions and business environment, Chile rose from number 22 to 11 outperforming countries like Germany, Austria, and Japan.


The Economist: Chile is second Latin American country with best quality of life

The Economist Pocket World in Figures 2008 list, which compares the economies of 183 countries, placed Chile 39th among the countries with best quality of life, only after Argentina (36) in Latin America. After Chile in the list come Uruguay (43), Costa Rica (47), Cuba (49), Mexico (51), and Panama (54).


World Bank: Chile ranks 33 among the best countries for doing business

Chile continues to be the country providing the most facilities to setup a new business in South America, as reported by the World Bank´s "Doing Business 2008" study. The country is number 33 among 178 economies, followed by Peru (58), Colombia (66), and Uruguay (98).


Transparency International: Chile ranks 22 in world corruption

The country is among the 30 least corrupt countries in the world, among the 180 countries part of the International Transparency 2007 ranking.
