Chile is the most important supplier of fruits in the Southern Hemisphere; it represents 50% of this region's fruit exports to Europe, the United States and the Far East.
In 2009, Chile's fresh fruit exports were valued at US$ 2,794 million, representing 7% of global fresh fruit exports. The country expects its fresh fruit export numbers to grow significantly.
